Abby Suckle, the Principal, has over 25 years experience in the design and development of residential, commercial and institutional projects.
Abby Suckle Architects (ASA) is a WBE in New York City with a practice concentrating in healthcare, preservation, and interiors for institutional clients. It is a full service award winning architectural firm with broad experience providing unique design solutions that synthesize design excellence with a commitment to the individual needs associated with each project. Architecture requires as careful attention to detail and project follow-through as it does to initial programming. ASA is noted for its sensitive space planning, our dramatic open environments, tasteful renovations, our colors and materials selections and the fact that our completed projects usually cost considerably less than they appear.

ASA is familiar with the unique challenges faced in building renovations especially those where original materials are difficult to replicate. Not only does this occur within the framework of historic building, but the firm has long expertise in the preservation of modern architecture having restored several signature buildings from the 60’s. The office works hard to give projects a sensitive ‘face-lift’ where the original design intent and materials selected are respected and updated within the constraints of the program, budget and schedule.

The firm believes strongly that good design can be accomplished on any budget and works with the Client to establish needs, set priorities and achieve the most value for the dollars spent. This is why one of our Principals is a Project Manager.

The firm a Women Business Enterprise (WBE) is also proud that its committment to women extends beyond its principal. It hires women architects and nutures them as they enter the profession. Abby Suckle has served as an advisor, for instance, to Harvard’s Women In Design Student group for the past 5 years.

Key members of the staff are LEED Accredited Professionals and are knowledgeable about what it takes to transform an existing structure into a more ecological one. Because of this commitment to sustainable energy, all projects undertaken by ASA have a significant green focus. In all its projects, ASA endeavors to specify eco-friendly materials that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also safe and easy to maintain. ASA prefers to source materials and products made locally thereby reducing energy consumption.
