DESCRIPTION
Weill Cornell New York Presbyterian Hospital
Kitchen transformation to Room Service
Kitchen transformation to Room Service
This project reconfigured the kitchen in the basement of Weill Cornell Hospital. A portion of the existing walk in refrigerators were removed, the cooking stations and tray line were reconfigured with the addition of new equipment. A ticketing system was installed. A TUG robot system for food delivery was also added with a dedicated elevator. During the construction, the kitchen remained open and was preparing approximately 6000 meals daily for the patients and staff. Construction was completed in 5 months which was ahead of schedule by one month. The cost savings on this project was about $200,000 which allowed for the addition of a coffee bar in the cafeteria, kitchen equipment, and reallocation to the Lower Manhattn Hospital.
