DESCRIPTION
The Department of Health & Mental Hygiene has recently moved many of their employees to a new office in Queens and has consequently begun consolidating the staff remaining in lower Manhattan. This is a project which combines three former Programs into a single office space for the Lead Poisoning Prevention Program.
The design itself is very simple and cost effective. By removing all the interior partitions and ceilings so that all the employees will have access to the large operable windows and daylight, the office space is opened up. Workstations are configured to conform to the City’s recently established space standards. The former Deputy Commissioner’s office suite is repurposed into conference rooms, which open to the corridor and could be shared with other programs.
The spaces themselves are uplit, and brightened by the use of accent color on one wall, workstations, furniture and the floor.
