DESCRIPTION
Framed by the canopy of the Ground Zero Path Station, the Information Kiosk is designed to address the tremendous number of tourists visiting Ground Zero. It was designed to be very simple and very graphic in order to attract attention. The design problem was to treat them as furniture in the larger room of the city and let the cityscape act as the walls.
The Kiosk at Ground Zero was the first of the two temporary buildings. Entirely sheathed in blue, the blue box is has room for two staffers and features a map along one side. There is also a display rack for pamphlets. The kiosk was relocated several times as construction progressed of the buildings around it. Since it opened, it clocked well over 500,000 visitors.
