This is a 'Classic 6' in a 19 story building on Central Park West. Like many similar apartments constructed in 1930, the space was originally configured for a large family during an era when most people had servants. The plan reflected this; there were many small rooms strung along a narrow corridor. The living room had a single window facing Central Park. The kitchen was small and dark with a tiny maid’s bathroom off the service entrance.
The apartment was reconfigured to open it up and create a ‘loft in the sky’ extending the length of the apartment. This created views of Central Park from every room including the main bathrooms. Design features include large open kitchen, a ‘home office’, the addition of a third bathroom, laundry, and several additional closets.
